The Facility
The facility is a waste-to-energy plant designed to process and burn solid waste and to generate electricity.
The cost of acquiring, constructing, and equipping the facility was in excess of $48,000,000.
The cost was financed by the issuance of the State of New Hampshire Resource Recovery Bonds, Series 1987, through the Industrial Development Authority. Refinanced in 1998 by the NH Business Development Authority.
The facility is designed to be capable of recieving and processing 560 tons of municipal solid waste per day.
The facility derives its revenue from fees (service fees) paid by the Co-op for disposal of solid waste, spot market tipping fees, and from the sale of electricity to PSNH. The electricity revenues are based on a long-term power rate granted by the NHPUC.
