The Canterbury Project

The proposed Concord Regional Solid Waste Landfill site is located in the southern portion of Canterbury, NH. The site is situated to north U.S. Route 4, west of Interstate 93 and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation railroad tracks, and east of the Merrimack River. The site encompasses 295 acres and is undeveloped and predominantly wooded.

The proposed lined landfill footprint will occupy 69.5 acres in the east-central portion of the site. The current proposal will provide waste disposal capacity for 20 years.

The landfill will be double-lined and includes provisions for primary and secondary leachate collection. The landfill will be developed in four sequential stages. Site plans include establishment of an 80-acre conservation area in the western portion of the site that encompasses approximately 7,300 feet of Merrimack River frontage.
